It's not just about my son. It's about a country addicted to certainty.
I first voiced those words about a decade ago. They would have seemed completely foreign to my younger self — but life has a way of reminding us that this beautiful, maddening, unpredictable world still has surprises in store.
This series is about a country grown certain about who counts as a real American, what a real family looks like, whose children have the right to exist — and which laws should be written to enforce the answers. What we could use now, more than ever, is a superpower. Luckily, we already have one. Every one of us.
Consider the uniquely human capacities for curiosity and critical thinking — traits that in combination produce the closest thing we have to a superpower: the ability to see the world as it truly is, while imagining a better one.
Scientific Rebellion is a movement to restore critical thinking as a foundation of democracy.
Curiosity
Reviving the spirit of inquiry that, when embraced, has produced our greatest achievements — and when suppressed, our darkest chapters.
Critical Thinking
The discipline of making decisions based on facts and evidence, especially when manufactured certainty is being weaponized.
Courage
Standing up for transgender kids, honest history, climate experts, and doctors who follow the evidence.

The book behind the rebellion
The podcast is the companion to a forthcoming book of the same name — a father's decade-and-a-half journey of dismantling an old worldview and building one that actually matches reality. Part memoir, part call to action, it makes the case for curiosity and critical thinking as the antidote to fear, division, and the rise of authoritarianism.
